For those of you who know me, I love family traditions. I believe they provide an important link for families past, present and future. While traveling aboard Three@Sea I’d love to maintain as many of our holiday traditions as reasonable, while also making room for new experiences.
One of the hardest traditions we needed to “put on hold” during our journey was celebrating Easter with our dear friends the Carlin family. We have celebrated 16 Easter’s together, even when we have been separated by living in different states and one year a different country. Although we did end up in the states for Easter, we weren’t sure we would be here, and that made planning a rendez-vous difficult. So we were together in spirit this year. However, next year maybe we can plan a bit better and they can catch up with us in Costa Rica.
As our best weather window for cruising from North Palm Beach to Cocoa, FL was Saturday night and Sunday, we were actually underway for most of Easter Day – another first. Ayla was thrilled to find that like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny can apparently use a Sea-Doo to find us at sea. We still had the traditional Easter egg hunt with clues needing to be solved to find her Easter Basket. There were jelly beans, and chocolate bunnies, tulips and Easter brunch. And of course, time to reflect about spring, new life, and hope.
We also entered Port Canaveral with a giant cruise ship coming out; transited the Barge Canal lock between
Port Canaveral and the ICW; and, had fun watching the quiche custard slosh back and forth in the oven wondering if it would set before it spilled over the side (cooking underway is always interesting). It was definitely a unique Easter for us. We hope you and your families enjoyed a special day together as well.
