I would actually prefer a tax cut and hair return, but I think that’s probably wishful thinking. We’re anchored near Cocoa, Florida so that we can visit the Kennedy Space Center and Disney World. But cruisers need to take care of business too, so we decided to make today a personal business day: We’re finishing up our tax return (always a pleasant task), and Kathryn cut my hair for the first time. The later is a watershed event.
I have spent my entire life paying for haircuts. It would probably shock me to add up how much money I’ve spent on haircuts over the years. I like to keep my hair short and neat, and when it gets just a little too long it drives me crazy (especially in the wind). When we were in the Bahamas, I actually had a hard time finding someplace to get a haircut, so we decided we needed to take matters into our own hands. Upon our return to Florida we purchased a set of clippers, and today was the day to try them out. With a few vague instructions from me, Kathryn went to work, and she did a GREAT JOB! It’s one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had (Oliver in Boulder being the exception), and certainly the most inexpensive. We should have done this ten years ago, and the money we would have saved from the haircuts could have extended our cruising budget.
For anybody out there with relatively short hair, I suggest you buy some clippers and have your partner start cutting your hair. It’s one more way to cut back during this recession (pun intended)!
