We have journeyed to Tadoussac, Quebec over the last couple days, and what a difference a few miles makes. The weather here is cool, and the air smells like the sea once again. At low tide this morning, the sun is shining, the seagulls are squawking, and I can see small ocean creatures on the rocks. It smells like the seashore in Monterey, California to me.
This area is the summer frolicking grounds for many species of whales and dolphins, and we hope to see some over the next couple days. We’ll take a side trip up the Saguenay Fjord tomorrow, and we are told that we’ll see dozens of whales. We’ll keep you posted, and we’ll certainly post photos if we’re lucky enough to get any.
On a geographic note, we are the farthest north and east that we’ve been on our journey (you can see it on our location map). We’ll continue a bit farther north and east over the next week or so, and then we’ll round the Gaspe penninsula and begin heading south again.
HEADS UP !
You and Hurricane Bill are headed on a collision course !

I have been following your blogs for about a month now. I am from Boulder and hope for a safe return for all of you. Have a great safe trip and continue your very intereting blog.
Saw you at the Locks in Fenelon Falls… really enjoy receiving your updates. Please have a safe journey as I too am concerned about Hurricane Bill which appears to be headed in your direction. Take care.
Just worried about Hurricane Bill. Looks like it’s going to head for Nova Scotia. Are you planning to hang back awhile before heading out into the Gulf of St. Lawrence?
